Walking and 2010 Goals

Quite a few of you have told me you are working on your 2010 goals.  I am doing this as well.  Some people look at their goals everyday; some people carry a laminated index card with their goals written on it and look at each several times a day; some people create their new goals and tuck it away until the end of the year to review their accomplishments and some people spend time creating their goals and misplace them.  Do you fall into one of these categories?  Writing goals is creating your commitment to make this year better than last year.

“You can not reach the top of the mountain with a climbing a hill attitude”  Rosalie Lynch quote.  165541_a   You need goals and plans and it is always great to write them down.  What is the secret of an achiever?  They write down their goals and look to update them every 4 months.  Why is this successful?  Because you will want to document your results with three things (l) did I achieve any of my goals; (2) do any of the goals need to be revised and (3) are there goals I need to delete because they happened automatically.  Many people sit their goals with a slight bit of effort needed.  Expand your goals larger and be specific on why you want to achieve this goal.

There is usually a debate if a person should share their goals with other people.  If there are other business people involved, you will need to share your goals to see if they are compatible.  I never, ever share my personal goals with anyone mainly because other people do not understand your personal goals and may challenge you in the goals they think are impossible or stupid!  Who needs that?  I develop my goals in 5 sections:  (1) Spiritual and Family (2) Health (3) Business Expansion  (4) products and coaching and (5) Fun and Play.  Get busy on your 2010 goals and achieve your greatest desires by sticking to them.518C42BA493B8C341B95511655DD2EF0

Don’t Lose your Exercise Focus

We are intelligent people who know that:

  1. doing regular exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health.
  2. it can have a big effect on cutting your chances of disease, and also on how much you enjoy life.
  3. it isn’t always easy to fit exercise into a busy day.
  4. Increasing the amount that you walk can be a good way of doing this, without having to find time to go to the gym.

Many goal driven people find that having a target, and being able to see how you’re doing, helps keep them focused.   They have trained their brain to exercise 5 days a week or they keep an Action Journal writing down what they have accomplished in their exercise program.  I am aware that runners and walkers can purchase pedometers that record their miles and steps and you can download them into your computer.  This particular software produces colored charts and helps you set your goal for the next day.  This is extremely helpful to keep people focused and motivated to advance to the next goal.

You might want to start by measuring how much you walk in an average day. Then you can set yourself a target beyond that. The usual advice is to aim for 10,000 steps a day. Recording your daily total may help you achieve your target. You can then make walking 10,000 steps part of your usual daily routine.

Many years ago my personal trainer designed an exercise program especially for my development.  Everytime I did an activity I would have to put a check mark by the activity or write down how many repetitive action steps I took.  She would check over my record and increase my production.

Find your way to keep with your exercise program and vary your method of exercising by cross training.  It will make your work-out more enjoyable.
