The Outdoor People Do Not Exercise

p151529_a1There are many people who do not like to exercise!  However, they love to take their daily walk.  Some people are outdoor people and they love to observe and be a part of nature.

There is something peaceful about seeing a sunrise early in the morning and being a part of a sunset in the evening.  The sky colors of the red, orange, yellow, white and blue are energizing to people.  When your eyes meet the sky and soak in the colors, the words come out of your mouth and all that is said is “wow”.  Have you ever experienced that feeling?  Whether you are alone or with someone else, everyone rejoices of the miracles of nature and colors.

We cheer on our neighbor who has planted flowers in their yard when we walk by and notice the yellow daffodils or the red tulips welcoming Spring into our lives.  The birds are returning from the south and we see red and blue birds looking for food.  Our senses are awakened when you pass a lilac brush or honey suckle vines and smell their aromas.

It does not make a difference if it is Spring, Fall, Summer or a snowy Winter; this type of walkers is outdoors looking for something special for them to enjoy and remember.  They are not concerned about counting their steps or walking fast/slow.  That is not the reason they are outdoors walking.    By the way, they consistently keep a journal writing down their experiences and their observations.  I believe these people are setting an example of what life is about—the joy and discovery of the environment around us.

Living in a big city most often does not provide the color of flowers or the smell of freshly cut grass.  However, I have walked the city streets of Chicago and rode the “L” and people become our joy to watch.  To grow an appreciation for people can make us smile and the words out of our mouths are “wow”.

I’m not sure the outdoor appreciation walker realizes they are also getting their daily exercising by putting one foot in from of the other and reap healthy benefits.  Let’s don’t tell them, OK?
